I’m fuming
Not much really gets under my skin, but yeah, sometimes I’m ticked off. So what really gets my goat?
First off, all this health and fitness craze, can shove it. And don’t even get me started on the whole ‘eating healthy’ and rock climbing thing. I’m not gonna bore you with talk about burning fat, some fancy diet, low-cal desserts, or carb loading.
Rock climbing’s like a mountain sport, right? Intense stuff. We’re talking 4-5 hours of hard work. Starts with hiking to the climb spot with a heavy backpack, then the climb itself, and then trekking back with the same load. All in all, it’s a 7-8 hour ordeal, travel time included.
I do this like three or four times a week
By the time I get home, I’m not just peckish. I could eat a whole elephant, deep-fried, with a side of fries and ketchup 🍟
Not always, of course. But it happens, especially if breakfast was ages ago and light, with just a couple of fruits to munch on 🍏
Same deal with mountain hiking. That’s when folks go climbing with limited food and come back dropping like 10-15% of their body weight.
Naturally, once they’re off the mountain, it’s straight to making up for lost calories – hello, grilled meats, breads, buns, and pies 🥧
So, here’s the thing. We’re not some weight-loss club here. We respect your lifestyle, the need for tasty, and – when your body demands it – calorie-rich food. We get the importance of it.
P.S. In the photo, I’m having my first glass of wine at El Monasterio. I’ll down two more. And eat over half a kilo of various cheeses, with some salted olives and pickles for good measure.
