Is this really fair??

Since I had a free day without climbing, I decided to take care of my gear — specifically, to clean my quickdraws.

For those who don’t know, a quickdraw is basic climbing gear. It consists of two carabiners connected by a cloth sling.

I decided to take care of that sling today by washing it. But first, I needed to remove both carabiners.

So, the upper carabiner in the quickdraw usually comes out without any issues

But the lower one poses some questions. It was tightly secured with a specially sewn rubber band.

And while my husband was “working on” five of those carabiners — I managed to get only one out. And that’s considering my rock climbing training, specialized hand and finger strength training. Meanwhile, he’s just been practicing volleyball.

Such a difference between girls and boys…

Need I mention how much more we girls have to train and regiment compared to boys?..
