Hike to Chinyero Volcano and picnic afterwards

Guys, this Saturday we’re going for a loop hike around the Chinyero volcano — about 12 km with an elevation gain of 300 meters. After the hike, if the weather permits, we plan to have a barbecue in Arenas Negras.

Chinyero is the last of the recently erupted volcanoes in Tenerife. The eruption lasted over a week: from November 19 to 27, 1909.

Currently, it is a protected area because the site is of great interest in terms of volcanology — it is home to a belt of young volcanoes (Montaña Los Poleos, La Cruz, Estrecho, Agüda).

The trail is beautiful and scenic. In good weather, you get stunning views of the Chinyero volcano from different angles, as well as Pico Viejo and Teide. The landscapes include lava fields (AA type lava) and trails through pine forests.

The hike will take about 4.5 to 5 hours. The elevation gain is 300 meters up and the same for the descent.

The maximum number of participants is 15 people. Children aged 12 and older must be accompanied by parents.

Registration for participants closes on Friday, October 18 at 12:00.

This is a non-commercial initiative, not tourism. Consequently, participants agree that this activity is not considered tourist services. They assume all preparations and risks associated with preparing for and completing the route. We, in turn, will inform you as fully as possible about all the details of the hike the day before.
