Return yourself to your body

Return yourself to your body

That’s how I would formulate the challenge for most people over 35. The dissociation of body and mind, and the task of reconnecting with the body is a personal challenge for every adult.

The irony is that in childhood, this connection is deliberately disrupted — don’t spin in your chair, eat what you’re given, go to the bathroom during recess, get to school by 8 AM, then off to sports…

Then we lose touch with our bodies to the point that we have to seek specialists and spend a lot of money to solve the problems that arise from this… In trying to address deficiencies, we learn to meditate, control our sleep and appetite.

At 35+, I also faced this challenge, guys. Everything seemed fine “for my age.” But wait, what the heck is age at 35?? However, by that time, my lower back had started to hurt, my hair was falling out in clumps, in the mornings I felt apathetic and didn’t want to get out of bed, and so on.

I’m glad that at that moment in my life I remembered what I liked during my teenage years: rock climbing.

It’s clear that climbing has a healing effect — it strengthens muscles and improves coordination. But the most important thing is not just that.

For me, the main thing is that it strengthens the connection between mind and body. You begin to feel better what your body needs for good wellbeing. And you stop putting up with the disruptions of “what did you expect, at your age.” You start searching for the right approach for yourself.

In the second half of life, we face many challenges: this includes a declining hormonal system, accumulated deficiencies in tissues and organs, and a decrease in the quality and quantity of sleep.

Some of these problems, unfortunately, can only be resolved with medication. But we can influence many processes by listening to our bodies.

For me, rock climbing became a starting point. It’s an amazing flow practice: during climbing, you focus only on the process itself. There are no other things. You finally step outside of your mind to connect with your body.

I just wanted to share that. And come try rock climbing, why not. Message me to sign up @yuliamityaeva.
