Survivors on Antekeri
This is exactly how the participants of the hike asked to title the post
It was truly an expert hike covering a distance of 15 km with a total elevation gain of 1 km. In some places, the trail resembled more of a goat path over a cliff. And with the hike participants, we came up with many jokes about “name your favorite beach on the island.”
The beach itself is a Martian work of art. Fine volcanic sand with a gentle entry and very warm water.
Our route went along the famous semáforo de Igeste, which was used in the 19th century to relay signals to the capital about the approach of ships. Then we continued along the gorge to Antequera beach with a huge cave, where we found an altar, bats, and other wildlife.
On the way back, we descended along barranco de Igeste and… entered a time portal, finding ourselves 20-30 years ago in agrarian Tenerife. Mangoes, papayas, pitaya, oranges, tangerines, figs, avocados – grow abundantly in this corner of the island.
It turned out to be a great hike. I’m sharing photos and videos.
